Welcome to the JJD Ranch Meats Department. All of our meats are from pastured livestock. Our beef is 100% grass-fed. Our lamb is mostly grass-fed supplimented with a sweet feed that contains both corn and molasses. Grass-fed Beef - Tomahawk Steak

Tomahawk steaks are currently the most popular of our steaks. Unfortunately, each cow only provides us with about 10 of them, so they tend to sell out fast.

Our tomahawk steaks usually run between 1.5 and 1.9 lbs each, and they are currently selling at a market price of about $65-70 per pound. So we have set our price per pound just a little under current market price and rounded up to get the final item price as if they were 2 lbs each. That makes each steak just slightly less than if we charged $70 per pound for a steak weighing in at 1.5 lbs.

Unless you tell us you want smaller steaks, we sell our larger steaks first, and they are, of course, at a greater savings.

Grass-fed Beef - Tenderloin Filet Steak

Our Rib Eye Steaks are perhaps the most beautiful of all of our steaks. They are bone in with a nice rounded piece of meat nestled in the curve of the bone. These steaks make a beautiful main dish at any cookout. And, they are dressy enough for special occasion dinners.

Our New York Strip steaks are perhaps our favorite grilling steak. They come two to a package, and at about 3/4 of a pound per steak, each is a great steak for one person with hearty appetite. But, 2 steaks are also enough to share for a family of four with younger children because there is enough meat on each steak to cut off a portion for a child. These steaks grill up beautifully with just enough marbled in and crispy edge fat to add great flavor. They are bone-in, so if you like to "gnaw the bone" at the end of your steak dinner, this one is a great choice. Whether you pan grill it or put it on the bbq grill, this steak has deep robust beef flavor.

Our eye of round roast is one of our most beautiful roast. This roast is often braised or very slow roasted and then sliced thin as a deli-meat. While eye of round is not necessarily the most tender of the roasts, it is full of flavor and perfect for several different things. it can even be cross cut into thin steaks and used for any cubed steak dish or for chicken fried steak.

Our tri-tip roast is perhaps the best roast to smoke. It is also a great little roast to slow cook in the oven. It is just the right size for a small family dinner. Much like a brisket but without the external layer of fat, our tri tip roasts are nicely marbled throughout. These little roasts also do well grilled much like a steak. They are best grilled rare or medium rare, but only if they have been properly tenderized with a rub or a marinade over time.

If you are thinking of coming home for a big roast beef family dinner, the top round roast is the roast for you. This roast becomes very tender when it is cooked low and slow. It can be roasted in the oven or a crockpot, braised in a dutch oven, or even slow smoked. It does not have a lot of fat, so sealing it by searing before cooking the rest of the way is often a good idea. These roasts are some of our biggest roasts, so unless you are planning for a lot of leftovers, think of this roast as an "event" roast.

Our chuck arm roast is a wonderfully flavorful roast cut from the shoulder of the cow. It is a very versatile roast, but it is probably best when either braised in the oven or raosted in a slow cooker or dutch oven. This one makes a beautiful pot roast for family dinners. Averaging just over two and a half pounds each, these roast easily feed a small family gathering or a family dinner with a few guest. And, they can also leave you with great left-overs for things like French Dip sandwiches. If you are particularly adventurous, this is even a good roast to use to make jerky if you enjoy a little extra fat content in your jerky.

Grass-fed Beef - Sirloin Tip Roast

A slightly smaller roast, our sirloin tip is very versatile. It can even be thin sliced or cut into bite sized pieces raw and then used like you would any thin cut or bite sized pieces of steak. This is a good roast to use if you need a quick in and out of the oven roast because it is particularly good when cooked hot and fast for a nice crusty outside and a medium rare inside. If you want it more well done on the inside, roast it on high for 15 min to get that glorious crust then drop the temp and let it cook another 45-50 minutes. This one is great on the grill after a nice long marinade in the fridge.

Grass-fed Beef - Round Rump Roast

Great for slow roasting, our round rump roast is a classic for slow oven roasting with veggies. However, because this is a delicious large cut of meat, it is also good for cutting into really nice steaks for the grill as long as you cook them fast and only to medium rare at maximum. When cut into steaks, the resulting "round steaks" are traditionally tenderized and then used for things like cubed steak, chicken fried steak, or smothered steak. The most important thing to remember about the rump roast is it comes from a place on a cow that gets a lot of exercise, so doing things to tenderize it becomes very important no matter how you plan to cook it up.

Grass-fed Beef - Chuck Shoulder Roast

Much like our chuck arm roast, our chuck shoulder roast is from the top of the front legs of the cow. But, the shoulder gets a little more exercise than the "arm", so the chuck shoulder is a slightly tougher cut of meat. This makes it a perfect candidate for slow cooking. It is often traditionally used for barbacoa because it is so delicious when braised and then shredded. We sometimes slow smoke one. It does not have as much fat content as a brisket, but once smoked and sauced, except for being just a little drier than brisket, it is just as yummy as any traditional bbq meat.

Fresh Year Round Produce
Welcome to our Fresh Year Round Produce Department. Whether it is super nutritious micro-plants grown special order just for you, herbs that are evergreens and do well outside year round, herbs that are very sensitive to our cold that come inside during our winter months, or starts getting ready for the upcoming growing season, it seems like there is always something green growing at JJD Ranch. Just like all of our other plants, whether something grows inside only part of the year or is an inside only plant, our growing practices are natural and sustainable. We use the best possible potting soils and starting mixes for both our starts and our container plants. Micro-plants

Welcome to the Micro-plants section of the Fresh Year Round Produce Department. Micro-plants are super nurtitious baby plants that you eat all of except for the roots. Most people simply know them as micro-greens, but we call ours micro-plants so that we can differentiate between veggie plants, herbs, and things that might commonly be grazed on such as wheatgrass. We do not grow our micro-plants until you order them. They are special order only items because we want you to have exactly what you want. Almost all of our micro-plants can be ordered and grown for you within just a few days year round. We only have a couple that are seasonal because they will not sprout well in colder months.

It typically takes from 7 to 10 days to grow Pack A types from when we confirm your order.

Our Micro-Greens Pack A is a powerhouse of the micro-greens most commonly used not only in salads and as garnishes, but also in things like smoothies.

This is a pack of micro-greens that grow relatively quickly. It includes some of the micro-greens that are most commonly sold in stores and that are fan favorites.

You can choose mixed trays with up to all four different types in Pack A, or you can choose full 10X10 or 10X20 trays of any type.
Micro - Greens Pack A

Mixed 10X10 Tray

Delivered in four 5X5 plant trays in soil grown in - not harvested
Our mixed tray contains a set of four 5X5 trays set in a 10X10 tray. This gives you a great chance to get a good variety without getting overwhelmed with too much of any one type. With the Pack A mixed tray, you get:
  • 1 Broccoli which is a vibrant green highly nutritious cruciferous plant
  • 1 Red Cabbage which is not only cruciferous but also adds a gorgeous deep green and a purplish red color to your dishes
  • 1 Wasabi Mustard which is a sweet little green mustard, but do not be fooled by the look. It carries the same punch as wasabi paste.
  • 1 Rambo Radish which has big beautiful mixed colored leaves including greens and purples. This one also packs a heat punch just as your would expect from something like horseradish.
While this is our standard mix, when we call to confirm your order, you can customize your own mix. For example, you may want 2 broccoli's, 1 cabbage, and 1 wasabi mustard. No problem at all. As long as your customized mixture uses any combination of these 4 micro-greens, we are happy to grow it exactly the way you want it.

Wasabi Mustard - 10X10 Tray

This item is a single 10X10 tray filled with wasabi mustard micro-greens. Wasabi Mustard is a real surprise for many. It is one of the most popular of the micro-greens because it actually tastes almost exactly like wasabi even though it is actually a mustard and not really a wasabi radish. Mustard and radish are from the same brassica family, so they have the same health benefits are other brassicas, but it would be almost impossible to get enough actual wasabi micro-green plants. Mustard on the other hand is a great micro-green option, so if you want to add a real power punch to things like a fish dish or sushi, try garnishing with a healthy serving of our Wasabi Mustard micro-greens instead of or in addition to that little dab or wasabi paste.

Our Micro-Greens Pack B is a mixture of big beautiful leafy micro-greens. These are often used to garnish, but they are sometimes used directly as an ingredient in a dish. This pack of micro-greens includes lovely colors as well as very sweet and or floral tasting plants.

All of the micro-greens in Pack B take just a little longer to grow than do those in Pack A, but the big dramatic leaves, crunchy stems, and interesting flavors make them worth the wait.

You can choose mixed trays with up to four different types from Pack B, or you can choose full 10X10 or 10X20 trays of any type.

Our mixed tray contains a set of four 5X5 trays set in a 10X10 tray. This gives you a great chance to get a good variety without getting overwhelmed with too much of any one type. With the Pack B mixed tray, you get:

  • 1 Sunflower which adds a nutty floral flavor to any dish

Tomahawk steaks are currently the most popular of our steaks. Unfortunately, each cow only provides us with about 10 of them, so they tend to sell out fast.

Our tomahawk steaks usually run between 1.5 and 1.9 lbs each, and they are currently selling at a market price of about $65-70 per pound. So we have set our price per pound just a little under current market price and rounded up to get the final item price as if they were 2 lbs each. That makes each steak just slightly less than if we charged $70 per pound for a steak weighing in at 1.5 lbs.

Unless you tell us you want smaller steaks, we sell our larger steaks first, and they are, of course, at a greater savings.

These steaks grill up beautifully with just enough marbled in and crispy edge fat to add great flavor. Our eye of round roast is one of our most beautiful roast. This roast is often braised or very slow roasted and then sliced thin as a deli-meat. While eye of round is not necessarily the most tender of the roasts, it is full of flavor and perfect for several different things. it can even be cross cut into thin steaks and used for any cubed steak dish or for chicken fried steak.

Our tri-tip roast is perhaps the best roast to smoke. It is also a great little roast to slow cook in the oven. It is just the right size for a small family dinner. Much like a brisket but without the external layer of fat, our tri tip roasts are nicely marbled throughout. These little roasts also do well grilled much like a steak. They are best grilled rare or medium rare, but only if they have been properly tenderized with a rub or a marinade over time.

If you are thinking of coming home for a big roast beef family dinner, the top round roast is the roast for you. This roast becomes very tender when it is cooked low and slow. It can be roasted in the oven or a crockpot, braised in a dutch oven, or even slow smoked. It does not have a lot of fat, so sealing it by searing before cooking the rest of the way is often a good idea. These roasts are some of our biggest roasts, so unless you are planning for a lot of leftovers, think of this roast as an "event" roast.

Our chuck arm roast is a wonderfully flavorful roast cut from the shoulder of the cow. It is a very versatile roast, but it is probably best when either braised in the oven or raosted in a slow cooker or dutch oven. This one makes a beautiful pot roast for family dinners. Averaging just over two and a half pounds each, these roast easily feed a small family gathering or a family dinner with a few guest. And, they can also leave you with great left-overs for things like French Dip sandwiches. If you are particularly adventurous, this is even a good roast to use to make jerky if you enjoy a little extra fat content in your jerky.

A slightly smaller roast, our sirloin tip is very versatile. It can even be thin sliced or cut into bite sized pieces raw and then used like you would any thin cut or bite sized pieces of steak. This is a good roast to use if you need a quick in and out of the oven roast because it is particularly good when cooked hot and fast for a nice crusty outside and a medium rare inside. If you want it more well done on the inside, roast it on high for 15 min to get that glorious crust then drop the temp and let it cook another 45-50 minutes. This one is great on the grill after a nice long marinade in the fridge.

Round Rump Roast

Great for slow roasting, our round rump roast is a classic for slow oven roasting with veggies. However, because this is a delicious large cut of meat, it is also good for cutting into really nice steaks for the grill as long as you cook them fast and only to medium rare at maximum. When cut into steaks, the resulting "round steaks" are traditionally tenderized and then used for things like cubed steak, chicken fried steak, or smothered steak. The most important thing to remember about the rump roast is it comes from a place on a cow that gets a lot of exercise, so doing things to tenderize it becomes very important no matter how you plan to cook it up.

Much like our chuck arm roast, our chuck shoulder roast is from the top of the front legs of the cow. But, the shoulder gets a little more exercise than the "arm", so the chuck shoulder is a slightly tougher cut of meat. This makes it a perfect candidate for slow cooking. It is often traditionally used for barbacoa because it is so delicious when braised and then shredded. We sometimes slow smoke one. It does not have as much fat content as a brisket, but once smoked and sauced, except for being just a little drier than brisket, it is just as yummy as any traditional bbq meat.

Welcome to our Fresh Year Round Produce Department. Whether it is super nutritious micro-plants grown special order just for you, herbs that are evergreens and do well outside year round, herbs that are very sensitive to our cold that come inside during our winter months, or starts getting ready for the upcoming growing season, it seems like there is always something green growing at JJD Ranch. Just like all of our other plants, whether something grows inside only part of the year or is an inside only plant, our growing practices are natural and sustainable. We use the best possible potting soils and starting mixes for both our starts and our container plants. Micro-plants

Welcome to the Micro-plants section of the Fresh Year Round Produce Department. Micro-plants are super nurtitious baby plants that you eat all of except for the roots. Most people simply know them as micro-greens, but we call ours micro-plants so that we can differentiate between veggie plants, herbs, and things that might commonly be grazed on such as wheatgrass. We do not grow our micro-plants until you order them. They are special order only items because we want you to have exactly what you want. Almost all of our micro-plants can be ordered and grown for you within just a few days year round. We only have a couple that are seasonal because they will not sprout well in colder months.

It typically takes from 7 to 10 days to grow Pack A types from when we confirm your order.

Our Micro-Greens Pack A is a powerhouse of the micro-greens most commonly used not only in salads and as garnishes, but also in things like smoothies.

This is a pack of micro-greens that grow relatively quickly. It includes some of the micro-greens that are most commonly sold in stores and that are fan favorites.

You can choose mixed trays with up to all four different types in Pack A, or you can choose full 10X10 or 10X20 trays of any type.

Mixed 10X10 Tray

Our mixed tray contains a set of four 5X5 trays set in a 10X10 tray. This gives you a great chance to get a good variety without getting overwhelmed with too much of any one type. With the Pack A mixed tray, you get:
  • 1 Broccoli which is a vibrant green highly nutritious cruciferous plant
  • 1 Red Cabbage which is not only cruciferous but also adds a gorgeous deep green and a purplish red color to your dishes
  • 1 Wasabi Mustard which is a sweet little green mustard, but do not be fooled by the look. It carries the same punch as wasabi paste.
  • 1 Rambo Radish which has big beautiful mixed colored leaves including greens and purples. This one also packs a heat punch just as your would expect from something like horseradish.
While this is our standard mix, when we call to confirm your order, you can customize your own mix. For example, you may want 2 broccoli's, 1 cabbage, and 1 wasabi mustard. No problem at all. Our Micro-Greens Pack B is a mixture of big beautiful leafy micro-greens. These are often used to garnish, but they are sometimes used directly as an ingredient in a dish. This pack of micro-greens includes lovely colors as well as very sweet and or floral tasting plants.

All of the micro-greens in Pack B take just a little longer to grow than do those in Pack A, but the big dramatic leaves, crunchy stems, and interesting flavors make them worth the wait.

You can choose mixed trays with up to four different types from Pack B, or you can choose full 10X10 or 10X20 trays of any type.

These are our very sweetest micro-greens.
