How to Shop with Us

Ever wish you could pick up things that seem to only be available at the Farmer's Market, but you need them in the middle of the week? Our Online Country Store is here to make those special items available to you every day except Saturday when we are closed but most Farmer's Markets are open. While we wish things could be a little different, because of Texas food laws and because we are a small operation, the products sold through our Online Country Store are only available to our local customers. But if you are within our service area, or will be visiting it soon, we make it possible for you to shop with us from the comfort of your home. Scroll through our store, select the items you wish to purchase, and place your order. We will then schedule an appointment with you and have your order ready for pick up when you come to us.

We sell a good variety of farm fresh, home-made, minimally processed foods because we want to bring things from our farm straight to your table. And, we want you to take time, while you are here, to meet our live-stock, visit our gardens, check out what's growing in our plant room, and see exactly how we produce things for you. We believe in growing foods in natural environments, and we believe in making things with minimally processed ingredients. We also believe and using heirloom ingredients, heirloom recipes, and even some heirloom processes whenever we can. So shop our Country Store and take home yummy goodness that is often very much like "grandma used to make". We have four separate departments in our Online Country Store, and the following is a brief description of items you can find in each.

  • Ranch Meats - We sell both grass-fed pasture raised Angus beef and pasture raised lamb. Visit our Pastured Meats Tour to learn more about how we raise our livestock and why we raise them that way.

  • Grown to Order - Whether you are looking for fresh micro-greens to add special nutrients to your diet or you need a super yummy fresh fruit cobbler to take to a family gathering, we have a line of products that we do not even start until you order them so that they are the very freshest they can be when we put them into your hands. We will also get baby plants started for your garden when we are starting ours. Visit our Grown to Order Tour to learn more about what we are growing or cooking up just for you.

  • Remarkable Foodstuff - You may be looking for the very freshest of herbs for a special dish, or maybe you are feeling adventurous enough to try something entirely new. Perhaps you are looking for foods that are especially beneficial to our health. Or, maybe you just want something that has been dried or canned for you in an actual farmhouse kitchen. In this section, we offer a wide variety of items that are typically unavailable in stores. And, we like to challenge you to try things you may not have thought of eating before like edible flowers, specialty leaves, cacti, and some fruits and veggies that are not available in stores. Visit our Remarkable Foodstuff Tour to learn more about what you might find in this department.

  • Seasonal Produce - We only grow things in the season in which they are most comfortable growing in our area. We do not green house or force early growth or early ripening. So, if you want to eat fruits and veggies that have been grown the way they like to grow, shop our seasonal fruit department to find out what is currently ripe and ready for you to take home and enjoy. Visit our Ranch Gardens Tour to learn more about what is typically grown in our gardens and in our food forest.
Our Sales Business Model

Even though our Online Country Store provides an online shopping experience, because our customers pick up their orders from us, we consider this part of our business to be a Direct Business to Customer operation. The items that we sell in our Online Country Store have been produced in very small volume, and we market only to local customers, so we typically get to enjoy the benefit of getting to know our customers personally. Our main customers who purchase foods from us locally tend to be those who prefer to feed their families foodstuffs that have been grown in a natural environment; an environment that they have an opportunity to visit in person to see exactly how the operation is run. We also seek out customers who appreciate the rich farming and ranching heritage of our area and want to help keep that heritage alive by putting foods on their table that have heirloom significance. Many of our customers simply believe that small business owners / local producers are still the backbone of our country, and they prefer to shop organizations like ours. And, some of our customers have an adventurous spirit and like to add interest to their tables with remarkable foodstuffs that many of us do not even realize can be parts of our diets. Because we are primarily a working ranch with an onsite gardening system, we ask our local customers to shop with us online and to arrange to visit us for pick up. We do occasionally, in special circumstances, arrange to deliver to our customers rather than having them come to us.

Our Selling Policies

Because we sell foodstuffs, our selling policies are relatively simple. Some of them are determined not by us but by Texas Laws. The following are things you will need to know:

  • Once you have taken possession of your purchase, all sales are final. If you order online, we are happy to make exchanges in your order before you accept it. But once your order is in your possession, we cannot take food items back or make refunds on them.

  • If you find that your food item is not what you expected, please let us know. We are always happy to do what we can to make you a happy customer. We may offer you a replacement or perhaps a credit towards a different item. We want you to love our foods as much as we do.

  • All of the prepared foods we sell are considered Cottage Foods under Texas Cottage Food Laws.

  • In order to meet the requirements of Texas Cottage Food Laws, when you purchase prepared foods from us, we must put the product directly in the hands of the buyer, so the customer must come in person to pick up.

  • When we purchase ingredients to use in our prepared foods, we do our best to source ingredients that have been minimally processed, and we do not use ingredients that have been biologically engineered (GMO).

  • We will prepare special order items that have little to no gluten in them, but we do not sell items specifically as "gluten free" because we are not a gluten free kitchen. We cannot guarantee that our products meet the safety standards of "gluten free" that someone with an extreme gluten intolerance would need.

  • In order to meet the requirements of Texas Law regarding selling meats that have been raised on our property, we sell only meat that was processed and packaged at an inspected facility, bears the State of Texas inspection seal, was delivered to us hard frozen, and has been kept in a hard frozen state until it was given over into our customer's possession.
